Baking Eggless, Rainbow-Nutella Cupcakes using Pancake mix

Hi there!!

It's been quite awhile since I last posted something. Have been away for holiday trips to Jiu Zhai Gou in China followed by a diving course in Lombok-Gilli Trawangan. These two places don't really have good bakes and I had been craving for a little sweet something which resulted in this baking post when I flew back to Singapore ;p

I have been wanting to try something cool out and decided on making these lovely and cute cupcakes.
As I have folks of age at home, I can't help but to be quite health conscious. Hence, I decided to do away with eggs in my bakes and use pancake mix instead!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup of pancake mix
- 1 cup of sugar
- Half cup of water (or add water till mixture is slightly creamy)
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence (cause I love the smell of vanilla)
- 1 drop of food colouring (violet, red, green and yellow)

Steps to make the cupcakes:
1) Preheat your oven to 180 degree celsius for 10 minutes
2)Mix all the ingredients using a mixer (except the food colourings)
3) Separate the mixture into 4 different bowls and add the food colourings to each bowl like this:

4) Scoop dollops of the 4 coloured mixture into your cupcake tray to get a beautiful mix of colours

5) Place the tray into the oven and bake for 20-22 minutes
(You know your cupcakes are ready when you stick a toothpick into the cake and it comes out clean)
6) Core your cupcakes using either an apple corer or a straw
7) Fill your cupcakes with generous helpings of Nutella cream!
8) Enjoy!

*Mixture bakes up to 15 cupcakes

Fluff Bakery and Cake Madness

It's been chilly the entire morning till noon but not here at Fluff Bakery!! Their cupcakes are selling like hotcakes..lol. My friend had always wanted to try the cupcakes here at this Halal bakery since awhile ago and we finally mustered the courage to brave the lunch time crowd and the long queue for these pretty little things!!

Flavours from from left to right: 1) Nutella Hazelnut Brittle 2) Nutella Red Velvet 3) Strawberry Thyme (right top) 4) Salted Caramel (right bottom)

The bakery is located at Jalan Pisang (somewhere in Arab Street) and its signboard is a cute, teal outline of a lacey circle that looks like this:
They are usually open from Wednesday to Sunday from 12pm - 3pm (because their cupcakes are sold out!!) The cupcakes are sold at $4 each and the flavours are varied on different days and the menu that they had the day I went was this:
Look at all those pretty cakes on display and the queue!!

What's really good is the cream cheese that is generously spread on top of the cupcake. Its not buttery that will leave you feeling gelat or overwhelmed after eating he entire cupcake. The banana and strawberry are made with real fruit puree which complements the softness of the cupcake.

I tried the slice of Banana cake with Nutella cream!! To my delight, it is filled with chunky banana slices, and dark chocolate ganache. The surprise element - pretzel crumbs generously spread on top to give the cake an extra OMPF!! Banana-chocolate lovers, you will go gaga over this cake. Trust me ;)

That's all for now :D
Hope you liked this post!!

Christmas Ideas for Couples

It's been a really long while since I last posted an outfit. I have been really tied up with so many things I barely have time for myself. Anyway, this is a post for couples out there who need some ideas for the upcoming Christmas festive season.

I had a sudden urge to bake but don't have the utensils needed to do so. As I know this might be a sudden craze (and I'm pretty certain I will get over it soon) I don't see the need to purchase those equipment. So I decided to sign up at Jia Lei Confectionery Training Centre which is located at Block 1 Rochor Road (next to the Bugis village). I signed up for the X'mas log cake deco lesson with my boyfriend which lasted for 2 hours at $55 per person!! They have other recipes ranging from curry puffs to the upcoming Christmas bread design!!

Compared to the rates in other places, this is about half the price  :D
So if you are running out of ideas for a Christmas gift for your other half, why not consider signing up for a baking or cooking class? It's really fun and romantic at the same time..lol

Do check out these pics for a glimpse of my fruitful lesson with Teacher Huang

P.S It happens to be my boyfriend's birthday so I made a stuck-out card and poke it into the log cake as well ;p cool idea right?
Hope you enjoy reading my post!!

Polka Dot Mesh

I was just trying to be funky when I put these pieces together for this look.
The rose polka dots are sort of romantic yet adding a cheeky feel to this A line pencil skirt from Skirt Collection. Coupled with the interesting mix of a white top with mesh sleeve from ML Story, I guess this outfit is kinda like.... a classy, funky....mesh (I mean "mess")? Lol...
Everything kinda looks a little messy so I decided to tone the outfit down with a classy pair of black pointy heels (similar one by Steve Madden) . Guess this look can be great for a Friday dress down look, no?

Falling for Reigndeers

This outfit is specially put together because I know that summer is over and autumn is here for other countries. Am really envious of those who live in countries with the 4 seasons!! Singapore is ever so warm, it is totally impossible to wear this outfit. However, since I will be going to Jiu Zhai Gou (China) in December with temperature as low as 3 to 16 degree celsius, I guess this outfit will be just right for me (crossing my fingers).
Ok, enough talk about the weather, let's talk about the outfit. The really cute navy, blue reigndeer sweater is from MissySweetQ and the faux leather leggings with an edgy zipper is from Forever 21 (find a similar one here). Love this pair of gorgeous military boots from Velvet (mine have platforms and are currently out of stock but this are of the same design just that the soles aren't platforms ) which are perfect with the leggings.

Ladies in Singapore, if you are going somewhere cold for the December hols, hope that this piece of outfit can inspire you ;)

Lithesome Lilac

Was out shopping when I decided to take a few shots of this cute little lilac dress.
"Pretty" , "simple" and "cute" were the words that came to my mind when I saw this little lilac dress from Angel City. It is perfect for a lazy afternoon tea or a trip to the nearby mall for an errand or something - no needa worry too much about what other piece(s) to go with the dress. Just pair it with an accessory like a watch or a chunky necklace and you are good to go ;)

These pics are sorta impromptu , nevertheless, I hope that you will like it :)

Something Girly

There is nothing like lace for a girly girl's charm and sweetness!

This outfit is perfect for a gathering, movie, shopping or simply a dinner date. I'm sssooo smitten with the lovely off-shoulder, lace top from Makmaks (a Korean blogshop or you can purchase via Qoo10 here) It's made of chiffon and really comfortable to be in!!

And who says being girly means you gotta be in a skirt? For ladies who are not so comfortable in skirts, this pair of pale pink jeggings will be just suitable for ya ;)

Furthermore, to complete the look, I am wearing this gorgeous pair of earth-toned wedges (plenty of similar design available here ) .

Since white is a neutral kinda colour, just be daring to mix and match a pair of pants or skirt with it. Good luck and have fun, ladies ;)
